Well, yes and no..
It doesn’t take a huge amount of time to build muscle, and you should not have to work out for 2 hours at a time. The reason why you see so many people doing this, is because after a while, you develop a kind of obsession. It’s because working out makes you feel so good, that you want to keep doing more of it! Once your body starts to change shape, you will want to keep adding & maintaining your physique.
In order to build muscle, you do need to train properly. This includes: proper form, time under tension, the right amount of reps, sets, tackling different angles of the muscle, diet, rest etc. It’s all part of the overall end results.
I can’t give you any advice about building synthetic muscles (as in, taking steroids etc) as I don’t know anything about them and choose not to. What I do know for sure is, that if you are consistent with your training, are persistent and passionate about building a top physique, you will have no issues with this task.
At the moment, I concentrate on weights 4 times a week, splitting the muscle groups. This gives me a lot more range of movement, intensifies my workout, burns body fat, increases strength and builds muscles quickly (and I’m a female as you would have guessed by now!). I use super sets, and a I recommend that method to anyone that want’s those kinds of results. I too don’t have heaps of time for the gym, especially during the working week. I spend about 30 minutes on weights, using the most effective exercises and altering them weekly. I don’t spend much time on man made machines, as they do not work for me. I prefer to use compound movements, add weight each time or just decrease rest breaks.
If you are new to this, I don’t want to bombard you with information overload. There is so much more to be said about this topic. I hope the above does answer your question somewhat. Please feel free to ask anything else that’s more specific in terms of your goals.
