The Benefits of Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate is not only delicious but also has various health benefits. It’s made from the cocoa tree seed, one of the best sources of antioxidants on the planet. Antioxidants help protect your body against free radicals, which can damage cells and contribute to aging and disease.

Dark chocolate is also a rich source of flavanols, an antioxidant that can improve blood flow to the brain and heart. According to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, consuming dark chocolate daily can lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease.

In addition, dark chocolate has been shown to have mood-boosting effects due to the release of endorphins, which are natural chemicals in the brain that promote feelings of pleasure and happiness.

The Benefits of Oats

Oats are another superfood that’s packed with nutrients. They’re a great source of fibre, which can help keep you full and satisfied, and also helps regulate blood sugar levels. Oats are also a rich source of vitamins and minerals, including iron, magnesium, and zinc.

According to a study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, oats can help lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease. Oats are also great pre-workout food, providing a steady energy source and helping promote muscle recovery.

Another study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that consuming a combination of cocoa powder and oats helped improve blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Key Benefit #2: Improved Brain Function

Dark chocolate and oats are also great for brain function. The flavanols in dark chocolate can improve blood flow to the brain, which can enhance cognitive function and reduce the risk of cognitive decline.

Oats are also a great source of nutrients that support brain function, including B vitamins and magnesium. A study published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry found that consuming oats can help improve cognitive performance and reduce the risk of age-related cognitive decline.

If you’re active, you’ll be happy to know that dark chocolate mixed with oats can also help with exercise recovery. Oats are a great source of carbohydrates, which provide energy for your workouts and also help promote muscle recovery.

Dark chocolate, on the other hand, has been shown to reduce inflammation and muscle damage after exercise. According to a study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, consuming dark chocolate after exercise can help reduce muscle soreness and inflammation.

Key Benefit #4: Weight Management

Dark chocolate mixed with oats can also be a great addition to a weight management program. Oats are a great source of fibre, which can help keep you full and satisfied, and also helps regulate blood sugar levels.

When consumed in moderation, dark chocolate can also be a great addition to a weight management program. According to a study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, consuming dark chocolate can help reduce cravings for sweet, salty, and fatty foods, which can help prevent overeating and promote weight loss.

Furthermore, a study published in the Journal of Proteome Research found that consuming dark chocolate can help regulate metabolism and improve glucose utilization, which can also help with weight management.

Key Benefit #5: Mood Boosting

Finally, dark chocolate mixed with oats can be a great mood booster. As we mentioned earlier, dark chocolate has been shown to release endorphins, which can promote feelings of pleasure and happiness.

On the other hand, oats are a great source of tryptophan, an amino acid used by the brain to produce serotonin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter responsible for regulating mood and reducing stress and anxiety.
