Nutritional choices – what you may be missing (and must know) when taking the first steps forward

When you begin the journey of eating wholesome, real and nourishing food, your whole life will change. That’s the miraculous benefit of using nature for your good health. Remember the quote “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.” This is absolutely 100% accurate. You can be sure to cure almost every health issue you have, just by adapting the right nutritional plan. That seems logical and simple but is never as easy as it seems to be.

By “clean diet” we assume a diet filled with natural foods, foods that stem from the earth and do not contain any additive chemicals or substances. This is by far the healthiest way to live, no matter your age you are. It’s not always easy, though, as we’re always tempted with the faster way of accessing food on demand.

If you are thinking about adopting a healthy diet consistently, you can expect to notice many benefits. From experience, I would say give it a good 60 days to rid yourself of the obsessions you may have to certain junk foods. Some may be harder than others to cut out of your life. I did find sugar took me over 9 months to get over. It was a hard, hard struggle for me, but getting rid of refined white flour wasn’t a big deal at all. If you are a sugar addict, beware and go gentle on yourself. You can do it, but you will probably have to get creative and stick to your guns. It will be worth it.

5 of the best benefits on a clean diet

  1. Expect to lose weight. This is stating the obvious, but adopting a diet of eating natural foods will allow you to lose weight without too much effort on your part. It may take a few weeks or a few months. This all depends on your body, portion intake and the amount of exercise you do. Exercise will help give you that push towards slimming down even more. I would recommend weight training. If you do, you will slim down and tone up at the same time, rather than experiencing droopy skin. In saying that, the longer you have been overweight, the more patient you will have to be to shape up your muscle and eliminate the lost elasticity in the skin. Some people may not recover (if you are extremely overweight), and surgery could be the option. For now, let’s stick to strength training and clean eating at the same time.
  2. Elimination of cravings. As you keep progressing with eating well, your body will start craving the goods stuff instead of igniting any junk food cravings. The ladies may get the odd craving during the menstrual cycle, but it won’t be the overwhelming need as it once was. You will actually be surprised when the body starts craving salads and broccoli. Please don’t laugh, that always happened to me lol.
  3. Sick less often. The great news is that the immune system is becoming a lot stronger by consuming more natural foods. These foods contain vitamins and minerals which enrich our whole system. If you add better sleep to the mix, you’re going to notice that you get less runny noses, sore throats and sickness in general. That’s great news when it comes to covid. Think of the body’s natural defences being on high alert ready to kick into action when the need arises; This is definitely something you should dedicate to pursuing now and in the future.
  4. Belly fat decreasing. That’s right! Bloating and excessive belly fat should start to diminish. You will most likely be having regular bowel movements, from filling your digestion with good bacteria. Good bacteria means better digestion, and being a lot more comfortable overall. Gut health is also a key component of burning body fat – do make it a priority as it’s our second brain for a good reason!
  5. Concentration. Now you will be less clouded by that brain fog, or even that sleepy 3 pm slump we all seem to experience regularly. Your blood sugar level will be a lot more steady during the day, and you will be less hungry because of the good quality protein you are now consuming. Your energy will be a lot higher and easily maintained throughout the day. It will be a lot more manageable to finish tasks with and even power through your workouts. It’s definitely a win-win here!

Let me just mention that these effects don’t happen immediately. You must be aware that in the beginning, it’s going to be hard. Your body will resist; you will have even more cravings and become very lethargic and possibly moody. Please stick with it, because we always tend to get worse before things start looking up. This is all part and parcel of making this necessary change.

Please think of the long term benefits of this, because it will far outweigh the negatives of one week. Make changes gradually and allow yourself to rest and sleep more. That lowering of energy will start to increase in a week or so. Just keep regularly eating, drinking lots of water and staying active. I hope you found this article useful and I would love you to upvote it if you did.
