Fasting – effective & super fast fat loss in 3 ways

Changes in your body shape due to diet will vary according to person to person. The most misleading thing about dieting is that initially, we can lose a small to medium amount of weight that encourages us to keep going. Then suddenly, the changes start to stagnate, or even stop! This is the most frustrating part of dieting – even more so when the results begin to reverse into fat gain. Unfortunately, this is inevitable when you are under a restricted caloric diet.

The body is also a lot smarter than we may anticipate. It learns to cope with the limited calories you give it by resorting to diminishing your metabolism as well as decreasing the muscle mass you have. You may have experienced this with all your diet misadventures. It’s important to understand that this is an evolutionary response our body naturally transitions towards. It’s the response to lack of calories, which puts it on high alert, conserving as much energy as possible to sustain any famine attempts.

The good news is that there is a way to bypass these hideous effects of dieting. It does entail a life long plan – more a lifestyle than anything else. It will have to become a habit that you can sustain for life. One remarkable aspect of this eating plan is that it’s straightforward to maintain, and it also provides many health benefits as a result.

My chosen and preferred lifestyle eating plan is fasting. Below, I will highlight some facts about why fasting is effective, and why you should try it as well.

  1. Improves insulin levels. There is no surprise that when you stop eating, insulin lowers. If you have weight gain and loss challenges, you can bet that insulin is the key issue here. By skipping a couple of meals, you allow your body’s insulin levels to lower, which helps your body to use body fat as a source of energy finally. You may ask, when does this happen for each individual? The answer to this is unknown – but for me, I started to experience initial water loss within week 1–2 and significant fat loss in months 3–6. Yes, that’s a long time coming – but think about how much dieting and overeating you have done in your lifetime. You have to allow your body to adapt to burning fat as fuel by stabilising your insulin levels. This takes a bit of time, but it’s well worth the wait and effort!
  2. Speeds up the metabolism. When you diet excessively and lower calories to no end, you diminish your metabolisms capability. With fasting, the opposite is true. You increase your metabolism by up to 12%! This is because as you stop eating, your digestion rests, which allows your burn calories more effectively when you begin eating again. You also give your body a boost at using those calories more effectively. Those who have fasted for a while understand this better than anyone. You can feed your body a surplus of calories without it contributing to fat gain! This is one of the best aspects of fasting. Your body works for you, not against you.
  3. Diminishes hunger. You may think that fasting will increase your appetite and make you binge excessively. Well, this is not true! In fact, fasting decreases cravings and hunger. Your body no longer experiences those longing cravings as it once did. Remember that most of our hunger and appetite cues are based on habits. These habits can be broken with fasting. It allows your body to improve its a hormonal balance which regulates your appetite.

You may be asking – how long do the effects of fasting last for? It lasts for as long as you choose to fast! I do so every single day and experience beautiful results. I also love how I’m not hungry, and my day is not dictated by the need to keep eating. I can focus on the job at hand and become hyper-alert in the process. It saves me time – as I don’t have to cook a lot. Not to mention saving on my grocery bill. I do urge you to give this lifestyle plan a try, and see what it can do for you.
