The answer to this question depends on what your goals are, and what kind of lifestyle you would like to lead.
If your goal is to build muscle, sure, you can get away with doing a few things at home, or perhaps outdoors – but the results will come to a standstill at some point. To build muscle, you need to inflict it with heavy stimulus, and from different angles. It’s not possible to do this via a home workout (unless you have a home gym)
If you want to change your body shape, diet can only do so much. Lifting weights is what helps to re-shape and condition your body, making it look more athletic and shapelier. This takes effort and time, but completely worth it.
One thing that needs to be made very clear here is that no effort to lose weight, build muscle or get your body back to health is done so without proper nutritional choices. Making those better choices on a daily basis will add up to massive results later on down the track. You will not believe the transformation that can happen right before your eyes. Exercise is a mere 20% of the pie.
If I can use my goals and ambitions for training, I’m going to highlight the choices I make in order to get to the gym regularly. I train 4 days per week and focus only on weight training. The reason for this is that I want to build muscle mass, keep myself lean and also completely change my conditioning. Diet is playing a huge part in this process, but because I have some specific goals in mind, and parts of my body I would like to strengthen and change, it requires active gym attendance. There are many occasions in which I walk for a long stretch of time, and this is mainly for incidental exercise, as well as general relaxation. But when it comes down to the business of the gym, I have to get on with it if I want to achieve my goals.
We all have a choice, and there is no right or wrong at all. Do the things that are easier for you, fit into your lifestyle and make you happy! That’s what life is all about.
