Intermittent fasting allows us to lose weight at a rapid rate. For some people, it may take a bit of time. This is exactly what happened to me. I didn’t have a lot of weight to lose, but I had a lot of bloating and discomfort due to all the digestive issues. First of all, I noticed that my bloating seemed to diminish within the first couple of weeks. I didn’t weigh myself because I was not initially fussed about this. I intended to get back to better health.
I do know of people who struggle with losing weight, even on a fasting diet. This is not uncommon, as there are so many hormonal changes that happen when you fast. For most overweight people, the shift takes some time. The most important thing is that you have patience and stick with it – long term. This is not the kind of eating plan you can start, and then stop. It’s got to be the plan of action you take every single day of your life.
During the fasting journey, you may experience the dreaded “plateau” which leaves us wondering why fasting doesn’t work. It does work; you just need a bit of intervention in between this period. For example, you may have to integrate some HIIT into your training schedule, or perhaps a carb cycle for a while. There is no right or wrong here, but you have to experiment with the options available and see what works.
There is no perfect method. The best method for you is one you can maintain every day and one that allows flexibility for when you want to enjoy food and company with friends, family, and colleagues. There is nothing worst than being on a so-called “diet”, and you don’t allow yourself the flexibility of having an indulgent treat. The biggest fear is that it will break out diet. The good news is that you can have a treat when you’re on the fasting lifestyle without the negative effects.
I will finish this off by explaining why fasting works so well. See, when we fast, we trigger hormonal shifts within our bodies. These trigger us to gain muscle (or maintain it) lose body fat and regenerate our cells. And the only difference with any other diet around is that we stop eating for a longer period of time. That timeframe is the most important because it’s the hormone trigger phase. We actually allow our bodies to do what they’ve been programmed to do – help us maintain peak health, leanness and muscle building potential.
I have tried many diets in my time. Most left me feeling hungry, empty, moody and then I would experience the yo you effect. This always upset me, because I would go all out to make the high-level effort to change my nutrition, and exercise like a maniac. There is really no need to do all of this – and you can save yourself a lot of heartaches, time, and money by just fasting. Fasting is all you need for weight loss, for health and longevity.
