I LOVE smoothies for weight loss
Weight loss is very different for every one of us. I’ve not been blessed with the perfect genetics to stay lean all year round. The challenges I have been with my habits – and when stress rears its ugly head-can to become a little challenging for me. We all have some Achilles heel for putting on weight. Although it’s not always perfect for me, I most certainly can bring some of my own experience into this. Check out the following sweet spots for fat loss.
The best five weight loss tips you need to try.
Intermittent fasting. This is one of the best dieting practices I’ve ever come across. It’s so easy to fast every single day and not have to worry too much about scrutinising my food. When I was competing, everything had to be weighed and measured. It’s not the way to live my life – and it becomes so monotonous and quite dull. I want to live a life where I can eat a piece of bread or a slice of vegan cake if I want to. Fasting allows a lot of flexibility with your dieting, and there never seems to be any damage to your weight loss results. Please don’t get me wrong about this one, though – you still have to be mindful of your nutrition. I still watch what I eat and make sure it’s in proportion to my daily activity. Fasting takes the edge off and allows for a much more flexible lifestyle. I highly recommend you try it out -and do see your doctor if any health problems are apparent. Weight training. I weight train out of love more than weight loss. In my mind, having muscle mass (even as a female) is far more appealing to me than looking skinny and bony. I like that muscle makes you feel stronger, brings shape and suppleness to your body. Having muscle does help you burn more calories, but it honestly doesn’t help burn that much. I’m not an overly muscular type – I have tone and shape. This may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I like the results. The wonderful thing is you don’t have to be overly muscular to enjoy the benefits of fat burn and having an athletic physique. Do try to add in some weight training every week for strength and also tone. Walking. Although I talk and encourage HIIT for those who have a lot of weight to lose, I also recommend low impact exercise, such as walking. Walking provides me with relaxation and cardio benefits at the same time. I like to put in my air pods, listen to a beautiful audiobook, and get many psychological benefits and exercise. When I walk, I hit all the sweet spots in terms of holistic fitness and mental approach. Every day I see many people getting outdoors to walk – either in the mornings, lunchtimes, and evenings. Anytime is a great time to walk. If you want to increase your fat-burning potential, take a walk 30–60 minutes after a meal. That will help encourage digestion and get everything moving. It’s hard on digestion when we sit on a chair for hours every day. Throw in some walking to get the blood circulating again. Smoothies and soups. I’ve become a liquid kind of eater, not because I am interested in the weight loss benefits – but my gut appreciates them. It’s so much easier on the digestive system, and high fibre liquids keep you full yet light. I find that I get full after a soup and even when having a berry smoothie. I tend to add protein and flaxseeds to my smoothies for added protein and fibre. Over time, these smoothies and soup lunches have helped me eliminate my belly fat and keep my gut in good order. I recommend having a soup lunch a couple of times a week. Sometimes I may treat myself to some sourdough bread with it. It depends on the kind of soup I’m having. It’s a better alternative to have a soup that contains sweet potato for an excellent carb source. Feel free to try one per week, or try them all! Fasting takes a bit more time to get used to, and weight training results will usually become apparent after 6–8 weeks. Patience is critical, and weight loss will follow.
